Cottiers wedding: Jackie and Stewarts laid-back family affair
A Cottiers wedding will always hold a special place in our hearts, it was the venue that played host to our first ever wedding.
Jackie and Stewart were unwittingly our inaugural couple who needed help with a full wedding setup – flowers and props. Really sorry for not mentioning that, guys. We’re pleased to report things went swimmingly. Jackie even left a lovely Google review afterwards, so we’re pretty sure that means we can brand the whole affair a success.
To kick things off Jackie and Stewart chose a gorgeous palette of muted tones, paying tribute to Jackie’s South African heritage by including protea. These tropical flowers played the staring role in her bouquet while the bridesmaids’ bouquets were filled with complimentary colours of roses, the aptly names ‘blushing bride’, cosmos and all sorts of seedpods and soft green foliage. When delivering the flowers to Devonshire Gardens, where Jackie and her bridesmaids were staying, our knock on the door was met by shouts of ‘there’s the stripper’. Our kind of gals. Unfortunately such services don’t fall under our remit so we can’t be sure whether they were left disappointed or not.
The boys were treated to matching buttonholes for their kilt jackets, to make sure they were looking as good as the gals. We finished these with twine to tie everything together with the rustic theme Jackie and Stewart had chosen.
For their ceremony the pair chose a classic floral arch with fabric swagging, which was moved over in the evening to play its part as a photo backdrop for guests. We arranged this in an ombre fashion with darker florals spilling into lighter ones. Alongside this were wooden log slices and out popular brass lanterns filled with real wax electric candles (Cottiers don’t allow open flames in their venue) and sprigs of greenery. Strung up over the ceiling was hessian bunting which gave everything a fun, party atmosphere.
Tables were set up with lush greenery wreaths and little sparkling silver tea light holders on crisp white tablecloths and finished off with the lanterns from the ceremony, which the bridal party quickly scooted over during turnaround.
Jackie and Stewart brought along some really gorgeous personalised details too, with homemade table plans, chair-backs and signing tables dotted around the venue. We didn’t create the card area or the cake table, but we had to include snaps of those as they looked so good – definitely ideas we’ve banked for future use.
Thanks to Mr and Mrs Henderson for having us play a tiny part in their big day. You guys were the dream.
